This is a swimming pool that resembles a map of a portion of the sea. All the elements of a map are there: the meridians and parallels, the numbers that identify the precise location of the represented place, the lines of depth, the scale. But this is a map in scale 1:1 and what is represented there is the actual spot occupied by water: the numbers in the borders are the actual coordinates of that spot (information given by a GPS). The pool is made in white cement but when it is full of water it becomes light blue, and it gets darker as it gets deeper; in this way the swimming pool resembles more and more the logic of a map (light blue for shallow sea, dark blue for deep sea). The 1:1 scale depicted in the more shallow part of the pool shows a 4 meters scale diagram that in fact measures 4 meters.
The swimming pool is positioned in relation to the cardinal points in order to have the two coordinates lines in orthogonal relation with the borders.
The swimming pool is 15 x 6 meters and 2 meters deep (the deepest level). It has a 60 cm border all around. It is made in white cement with lines and numbers in black marble incrusted in the cement.
This swimming pool was produced by Martín Caputto as an artist proof, at his house near Lobos. Provincia de Buenos Aires, during 2020 and 2021.
